All testing for driver's licenses is at our driving school in Vancouver.
Please bring the following with you to your testing appointment:
- A government-issued ID with your photo
If your permit does not have your picture, you must also bring a current high school or college ID with a photo. - Your Washington State ID Number
This number will be on your WA ID card or permit. Apply for an ID Number. Once completed, log into your LicenseExpress account to find your ID Number; it will begin with the letters WDL. - Your License Express login ID and password.
This will allow you to take the knowledge test on a tablet provided by Atlas Driving Schools.

Driving Skills Test
To be eligible for the driving test, you must have passed the knowledge test (scores are valid for two years). You also must be 18+ years old or have completed all the course requirements of a state-certified driver training program.
- Please arrive at least 10 minutes early. If you are late, you will forfeit your appointment.
- Testing fees are not refundable or transferable to a new appointment.
- Test available in English only.
- Be prepared. Learn what's on the test.
- The driving test will take about 20 minutes.
- All drives are completed using an Atlas Driving School vehicle except when an Interlock Device is required.
We strongly advise reviewing the Department of Licensing website and watching the videos before taking your driving test.

Knowledge Exam
One attempt at the Knowledge Exam.
To take a knowledge exam in Washington State, you must:
- Be at least 15 1/2 years old or have completed a driver education course
- Have an acceptable form of identification (i.e. current or expired state ID/permit/license, passport, US Visa, school ID, etc.) Please visit the Department of Licensing website if you have questions on the validity of your identification.
- Arrive 10 minutes BEFORE your scheduled exam time and notify staff of your arrival to complete the required paperwork. If you are late, you must reschedule, and your exam fee will be forfeited.
The knowledge exam is a 40-question, multiple-choice test about the rules of the road and safe driving practices; it requires an 80% or higher to pass.
